The Department of Fundamentals of Building realizes research and didactic courses in the field of design of typical building structures, design of energy efficient and passive houses, computer-aided engineering, revitalization of buildings, design of modern timber structures, design and analysis of innovative structural systems. The Department offers a wide range of scientific and research services, including: architectural and structural design, building inventories, projects for the revitalization of buildings, diagnostics and technical expertise, audits and energy certificates of buildings, as well as a number of trainings on applied computer science.

The Department of Fundamentals of Building consists of three divisions:

• the Division of Fundamentals of Building and Sustainable Development;
• the Division of Timber Structures;
• the Division of Applied Computer Science.
