REQUIREMENTS:
  • a student of doctoral studies or a doctoral school student within the meaning of the Act of July 20, 2018 – Law on Higher Education, Poland,
  • very good results in studies at the master’s studies in the field of Civil Engineering or the discipline of Civil Engineering and Transport,
  • research interests in the field of timber structures and smart tensegrity structuters especially when used to shape plates or shells,
  • experience in the realization of numerical studies of bar structures, in particular tensegrity (e.g. in MSc. thesis, professional experience, participation in projects, etc.),
  • competence in the automation of the numerical modeling process, through the use of symbolic computing programs such as Wolfram Mathematica,
  • competence in programming (e.g. Python, C++, C#),
  • ability to create FEM models using the Abaqus software
  • English level – minimum B2.
TASK DESCRIPTION: The scholarship holder will be involved in a project as part of the SONATA-17 action entitled: “Numerical and experimental development of an innovative wood-based layered structure with a tensegrity core”

 

Aim of the project: Development of a structural element, made within sandwich panel technology, whose properties are susceptible to control before and after its embedding. The project involves the development of tools that allow a mathematical description of the structure, based on experimental studies.

Tasks description:

  • Selection of mathematical models to describe elements made of wood-based materials and their implementation in the finite element method and in the author’s codes.
  • Study of mechanical properties of elements made of wood-based materials.
  • Development and formulation of a mathematical model of a sandwich panel and its calibration based on experimental studies.
  • Selection of a tensegrity structure for use in a sandwich structure.
  • Ongoing data management and archiving in accordance with the project’s data management plan.
  • Co-authoring publication manuscripts based on the obtained research results.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Agreement for a research scholarship from September 1, 2022.
  • The scholarship is awarded under the rules of granting scholarships in the regulations of research projects financed by the National Science Centre (NCN), introduced by the Resolution of the NCN Council No. 25/2019 of March 14, 2019.
  • A scholarship of PLN 1 000 / month for 36 months.

Required documents:

  • a CV includes the list of achievements following § 3, point 12 “Regulations for awarding NCN scholarships in research projects funded by the National Science Centre” (Annex to the NCN Council Resolution No. 25/2019 of March 14, 2019), including following issues:
    • academic achievements, including publications in recognized scientific publications/journals,
    • achievements in scientific research, scholarships, awards and scientific experience gained in the country or abroad, workshops and scientific training, participation in research projects,
    • competence to carry out specific tasks in a research project.
  • a scan of the MSc. diploma,
  • a certificate from the university confirming the status of a doctoral school student,
  • a declaration of consent to the processing of personal data content: I consent to the processing of my data included in the scholarship offer for the needs of the recruitment process (following the Personal Data Protection Act, Journal of Laws 2002, No. 101, item 926, as amended).

After collecting the application, the Competition Committee will select candidates based on the submitted documents, according to the NCN scholarship regulations. Candidates will be informed about the competition results by e-mail immediately after the competition has been resolved.

The Competition Committee reserves the right to:

  • to interview selected candidates who, as a result of the qualification, received the highest scores (selected candidates will be informed by e-mail or phone about the date of the possible interview),
  • to the possibility of not resolving the competition.
